During my time on Council, there was, and judging by recent events, still is, a strain of ‘political toxicity’ around the Hobart Council Chamber and other Councils. Today it now plays out publicly via social media and our daily press, the ongoing internal disputes, personal attacks, whispered rumours, and allegations of refreshments missing from the Councillors’ Comfort lounge. ‘Who stole my Mars Bar?’

Of course, people don’t elect councillors to fight each other. They elect them to fix roads, support local business, protect neighbourhoods, and help build a better city. But it’s not getting better. It’s getting worse. Time to call the “The Formidable Fifty”. 50 of our top leaders and achievers in Hobart. Can they form the first Demonoocracy in Hobart…...in Australia…possibly a world first
